Post 4...finally

From this entire assignment, I have learned several things about the whole research and writing process. The main thing that I am learning is that you need to take in everyones opinions on your topic. This helps give us a feel on what people think about it and how we will need to go about to convince them with our research that we have done. I have also learned that the writing process for this type of assignment takes a lot longer than I ever expected. The papers that were expected out of us in high school never required this much in depth research before. I am learning plenty more about my inquiry question. I feel that I have learned so many different things that I would have never thought of ever. I have been learning a lot about myself when it comes to my research and writing. I have learned that I have to potential to write very convincing arguments and that I look into everyones opinions before taking a side on a topic. I have also learned that I can find research to help support my view point relatively easily. I thought I always had trouble with it, but I guess not anymore.

Number 3

I feel that with this assignment, I will be writing to athletes that care about this topic. The main focus will probably be high school athletes and college athletes. I am interested in writing about protein supplements and their safety for athletes because I have been an athlete before and I have used protein supplements plenty of times throughout my life. With the research that I have done thus far, I have seen several view points. Most of them are from doctors saying that they are fine. There are very few view points that are against it, but the few that are there are generally from the average every day person. With my topic I have learned some very interesting facts. I feel the most interesting fact that I have learned is that protein supplements actually help boost your immune system. I never knew of that, but it makes sense why I never got sick when I was taking them in high school.

So after doing more research into my topic, I believe it is safe to say that I am still on the same track of "are protein supplements healthy?" I still think it is a rather interesting topic in my perspective. From some of the articles that I have read, I have gotten all sorts of opinions. The most shocking opinions I believe are from some of the articles where some of the doctors will actually agree that protein supplements are healthy for ones well being. I figured they would be more against it because they look into what they are made of and what negative effects they can have on the body. I figured it would be more of the athletic trainers that would say they are healthy. For example in one the articles I am currently researching has a strength and conditioning coach that believes that protein supplements are perfectly fine for the body and have no effects whatsoever.

For my research i've come up with the question "are protein supplements healthy." I feel this would be a great topic to research because I feel that it could go either way. The topic has always interested me because I have used creatine and other protein supplements when I work out. I feel that people would care about this topic because it people want to know what they're putting into their bodies. I have found several articles already that have pointed either direction for my argument. These were from doctors that have done research on the subject already, but once again it points to being harmful and being healthy. On this entire subject, I believe that they could be rather healthy. Reason I believe this a product wouldn't be made if it is harmful to a person.
